Our History

In 2018, the non-profit half of The Fledge was founded because we saw that many of the people who engaged with us were living in poverty, and below the ALICE threshold. We began to provide resources to fulfil the basic needs of our community members. Such as free food, hygiene supplies, clothing, internet access, harm reduction supplies (like Narcan), and more. The covid outbreak saw our resources stretched thin due to the new flood of community needs not being addressed. We increased our capacity to help by forming partnerships with other organizations (such as The Village and Punks with Lunch in Lansing), and seeking grant funding from local and state organizations.
